French film star Samy Naceri, who recently mounted a campaign against racism, has been sentenced to six months in jail for racially abusing a black officer. Naceri’s case is much like Mel Gibson’s recent clash with the police. He was arrested in March in Paris for drunken driving and placed in a holding cell overnight, where he proceeded to unleash racist comments to a black prison officer, the Daily Variety reported.

He admitted to having been under the influence of “a box of Lexomil (heavy sedatives) and 15 whiskies.”

Whether Naceri’s film career is affected by the incident may be determined when his newest film, “Taxi 4,” is released early this year, the report said.

Naceri pleaded guilty on all charges and asked the officer to forgive him and said he’d since quit alcohol and drugs. He was fined $10,480 and given a six-month sentence.
